Hi
Aditya here,
Today I will not be writing a blog on an issue, today I will deviate from usual fashion of writing and take a more personal talk on issue that is bothering the world.
The issue of discrimination
I am from India, a country having discrimination at each and every level, thanks to the coloniser, opportunistic politicians and ignorant citizen discrimination have creeped in every aspect of life in India. In the time of COVID19, when my country and her citizen needed to be together a humanitarian crisis originated showing that all the policies which are made on the name of poor and downtrodden, all the sympathy shown by fellow citizen all is nothing but show-off. There were stories which restore our faith and give us hope that all is not lost. Also, no matter on what initiative, but Government of India is moving all the machinery to help the poor in this time of crisis. NGO’s are providing food, shelter, government is empowering the local officials who are working day and night to help those in needy.
But what is saw on road of Minneapolis, where a 46-year-old African American man, died while he was restrained by the police officers, shook me from inside. I suddenly felt how the prisoners of cellular jail must have felt when they were punished by the British officers. Suddenly, a rage and at same time a fear griped my heart, because this kind of inhuman treatment cannot be justified in 21st century.
As long as human are on this planet the evil of discrimination cannot be rooted out, and example are right in front of us: -
1. Black and Native American discrimination in America.
2. Caste system and religious discrimination in Indian sub-continent (includes, India, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka)
3. Religious discrimination in China.
4. Migrant discrimination in Europe.
These are to name a few, as the whole Africa continent is discriminated at each and every level. From medical testing to development programmes Africa is discriminated at each and every point. Human know that they have just one planet for them till now on which they can inhibit still we treat each other in such inhumane manner.
But, what are the options we have to at least minimise this evil, well I can tell the solution in 3 words,
Change human culture
These three words hold a very wide annotation in themselves. But what is culture?
Culture is used to describe such things as how man earns his living, what kind of house he lives in, what skills he uses, what things he produces, how much knowledge he has acquired, how he lives with his fellow men, what he believes, how much leisure time he has and what he does with this time.
Thus, if we change and optimise our culture such that
- We earn enough, this will promote minimalistic living and thus the culture of consumerism will reduce which in turn result in less exploitation of environment.
- If we learn skills which promote higher scientific learning in tandem with the spiritual learning then we will do things responsibly. Here is used the term spiritual learning and not religious learning, both of them have huge difference, as the former concentrate on the learning aspect rather the later focuses on the ritualistic aspect and that to for achieving a personal goal.
- If
we believe in Global Fraternity than this evil can be rooted out from root to
shoot.
- If we utilise our time and knowledge to abolish these political boundaries and to create a new world order which is different from the concept of nation state then we can address this problem.
In
the end I just want to say that there is no fix answer but this issue need
urgent remedy, I request all of the bloggers, writers and intellectual to forward
their view on the issue of discrimination and ways to root it out from the mind
of human so that our new generation don’t have to feel the same which I am
feeling now, SUFFOCATED.
